PBA: Black on surging Bolts:
After beating Rain or Shine Sunday, the Bolts have now won three straight for a 4-6 record and their six-game slide is now a thing of the past.

Left for dead after taking a beating from two-time champion Brgy. Ginebra, Meralco is still somehow alive and in the thick of the playoff race in the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup.

After beating Rain or Shine Sunday, the Bolts have now won three straight for a 4-6 record and their six-game slide is now a thing of the past.

More importantly, the Bolts are only trailing San Miguel (4-4), NLEX (4-5), and TNT (4-5) in the standings meaning Meralco is still pretty much alive and kicking.

"It's just another step," head coach Norman Black said of the win against Rain or Shine.

"At least we put ourselves in a situation where we still have a chance to make the playoffs, three games ago we were pretty much given up for dead. I'm really happy and proud of my team that they continued to fight and we still have a chance," he added.

While the Bolts are on a roll, they don't play their last game of the elimination round until early November.

Meralco will have San Miguel on November 3 and the long break could doom the Bolts' new-found momentum.

"Who knows, we've had two weeks off, 28 days off this conference so you just try to manage it and hope for the best," Black said of the break.

"Obviously for us, we'd rather continue playing right now because we have some rhythm and everybody is playing well," he added.
