Caloy Garcia did not provide further details on the conversation, but assured that everything is fine and dandy with Raymond Almazan.
Coach Caloy Garcia confirmed that he and enigmatic big man Raymond Almazan had met last Monday, Oct. 22, and had settled their differences there.
In the meeting, with Garcia, Almazan and his wife, Rain or Shine owner Raymond Yu, team governor Atty. Mamerto Mondragon and alternate Edison Oribiana, and sports agent Danny Espiritu were the protagonists of the affair.
The coach did not provide further details on the conversation, but assured that everything is fine and dandy with his 6'9 center.
"Sana malinaw lahat. In our side nasabi na namin gusto namin, narinig din namin gusto namin marinig. Hopefully all's well ends well," the mentor said after their 103-97 loss to Phoenix.
Garcia also revealed that the Letran alumnus is serving a team suspension until the end of October, but still did not report to practice and will still be out for their final game against NLEX on Nov. 3.
Almazan, who had missed the last seven games for the Elasto Painters, averaged 5.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in his two appearances in the Governors' Cup before going AWOL.
His team has gone 2-5 since then and are fighting for a playoff spot, albeit the slimmest of margins of probablity in qualifying in the postseason.
With the team now gone out of the playoff picture, Rain or Shine could now focus on the Philippine Cup, which is slated to start mid-January 2019.
"Hopefully come the next conference, the all-Filipino, we'll be a better team."
Looking back at the final tournament of the three-conference season, Garcia expressed his appreciation of his players' effort Wednesday afternoon, but was critical of import Terrence Watson's performance.
Watson was hampered by foul trouble throughout the game and finished with four points and seven rebounds before being disqualified in the last quarter.
"We have nothing against Terrence -- he really plays hard -- but minsan talaga malaking factor having an import who can finish a game and score in the end."
