PBA: Beermen roll to fourth straight win

BINAN, Laguna --- The Beermen are rolling to the playoffs.
San Miguel stretched its winning streak to four games Saturday, overpowering also-ran Rain or Shine, 109-97, at the Alonte Sports Arena here.
After a 2-4 start, the Beermen are now up to 6-4 to maintain their place in the top-6. The win put the team in the quarterfinals also allowed San Miguel to keep a slim chance of stealing a twice-to-beat advantage.
After a close first half, Christian Standhardinger and Alex Cabagnot led a strong third period for the Beermen where they outscored Rain or Shine, 22-20.
San Miguel turned a four-point lead at the break to 14 heading into the fourth. Then the Beermen pounded on the Elasto Painters, taking a 98-79 advantage before cruising for the win.
Import Kevin Murphy led the way for San Miguel with 28 points while Cabagnot fired 24, 10 in the third quarter.
Standhardinger had 12 in the third period on his way to 22 points. The top pick of the 2017 Draft also added 18 rebounds and four assists for good measure.
ROS got 26 points from Maverick Ahanmisi. The Elasto Painters dropped to 2-8 for the conference after four straight losses.
