ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal --- The last time they played, the NLEX Road Warriors pretty much gave a win away to sister team Meralco.

NLEX absolutely collapsed late in the loss to the Bolts and the defeat derailed the team's march to the playoffs of the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup.

Faced with another close game Friday against Alaska at the Ynares Center here, the Road Warriors made it a point not to mess things up in the clutch again and came through with a big overtime win over the no. 1 Aces.

"That was a huge loss," import Aaron Fuller said of the Meralco debacle.

"We were all disappointed in ourselves. We watched the tape and saw how close we were and how we gave it away. We definitely didn't want a repeat of that today," he added.

Fuller certainly did his part in making sure NLEX was not going to melt down once again.

His layup with about two seconds to go in regulation allowed to Road Warriors to force overtime. He scored another seven points in the extra five minutes to help seal the deal.

Overall, he scored 42 points and grabbed 22 rebounds to lead the Road Warriors.

"We knew it was going to be a tough game coming into it but we were able to focus on defense and rebounding," he said.

"We took the hard way to get a win but I'm so happy we came out on top," Fuller added.

NLEX now has Rain or Shine coming up to finish the regular season and another win there should guarantee that the Road Warriors will advance.

"We gotta focus. Nothing is gonna be given to us so we gotta keep playing solid," Fuller said.
