PBA: Bolts make play for QFs after destroying San Miguel
At 5-6, Meralco is still not quite in to the next round yet but the Bolts have assured themselves of at least one more game depending on the result of the TNT-Ginebra clash Sunday.

Meralco is officially back from the dead.

The Bolts assured themselves of at least a playoff for the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup quarterfinals after destroying San Miguel Saturday at the Big Dome, 111-81.

In a game of runs, the Bolts had the most telling and rolled to their fourth straight win in the season-ending conference.

At 5-6, Meralco is still not quite in to the next round yet but the Bolts have assured themselves of at least one more game depending on the result of the TNT-Ginebra clash Sunday.

If the KaTropa loses, the Bolts make the playoffs outright.

A strong start put Meralco up, 15-2, in the opening period but San Miguel responded with a 13-0 run to start the second quarter to take  control.

The Beermen were up by as many as 14 late in the first half but after the break, the Bolts clamped down on defense, limiting the high-powered San Miguel offense to just a combined 32 points in the third and fourth quarters to bag the win.

Meralco led by as many as 33 points and the Bolts can still reach as high as 7th place depending on the TNT-Ginebra game.

Reigning two-time Best Import Allen Durham was a beast for the Bolts, dropping 35 points, 27 rebounds, and seven assists. Reynel Hugnatan led the locals with 19 points while Chris Newsome added another 14.

For the Beermen, it was Kevin Murphy who paced the team with 32 points. San Miguel ended the elimination round with a 6-5 mark for 6th place.
