PBA: DiGregorio questions getting ejected for tossing ball
After further review, the referees saw it as excessive and unnecessary, which also may be a spark for further trouble in an already physical and chippy game.

Blackwater Elite sharpshooter Mike DiGregorio expressed his utter disappointment after getting booted midway through the second quarter in his side's loss against the Phoenix Fuel Masters.

DiGregorio was deemed by officials to have been unsportsmanlike after rolling the ball, which unfortunately bounced off the buttocks of opposing import Eugene Phelps with 6:07 left in the second quarter

After further review, the referees saw it as excessive and unnecessary, which also may be a spark for further trouble in an already physical and chippy game.

"From what I recall, it was a hard foul by Poy, I saw Eugene get physical with Poy, hit him in the face, he fell down, the ball bounced to me and I just tossed it. And I kept saying when I was watching the game in the dugout, never did I wind up or throw the ball at him. I just tossed the ball and thats an F2," DiGregorio explained.

Nevertheless, the guard, who had seven points by that time, was a very big loss for the Elite, who were gunning for a twice-to-beat advantage, which they squandered in the waning days of the eliminations.

A helpless DiGregorio watched his team collapse in the fourth quarter and saw what they worked hard for in four months drift away in six minutes.

He also questioned and implied the referees had double-standards in determining the call, citing the previous incident between San Miguel import Kevin Murphy and Fuel Master Calvin Abueva at the Mall of Asia Arena a month back, wherein the American supposedly put the enigmatic wing in a headlock.

"I've never had a history of being a dirty player, I've never had a history of getting thrown out or being cheap or physical with anybody."

Now that they are just waiting for the 4-5 matchup against the Magnolia Hotshots either on Tuesday or on Thursday, DiGregorio let out a guarantee that a similar incident will never happen from his part.

"If the ball bounces to me I'm not touching it."
