Ramos confident it will be different this time against MAG
Bong Ramos took blame for his rotation errors, as the team was left devoid of the spitfire guard, who had scored seven points in 10:37 of action.

The last time the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok and the Blackwater Elite faced each other, it was not a pretty sight.

Magnolia decimated Blackwater at the Cuneta Astrodome that fateful Wednesday, 133-99, a game in which Jio Jalalon produced his first-ever triple-double game as a pro.

Also in that game was the ejection of Elite reinforcement Billy Walker, who incurred his second technical foul with 1:30 left in the third quarter.

For Coach Bong Ramos, the fifth-seeded team has learned from their horrendous performance in that outing as they fight for their lives in a do-or-die Game 1 against the Hotshots either Tuesday or Thursday.

By virtue of their fourth-place finish, the San Miguel-owned franchise will be enjoying the privilege of moving on with just one win.

"History na yun eh. Importante yung game namin sa susunod, yung dadating na game diba. We learned from that. Napag-usapan na yun before pa," Ramos said of that encounter.

The coach also stressed that the team's defense would be paramount in their face-off against the Chito Victolero-mentored franchise.

Ramos also lamented his team's inability to secure the vaunted bonus, an advantage they could have, had they won against the Phoenix Fuel Masters, their opponents for the Sunday tussle.

Blackwater was without sharpshooter Mike DiGregorio, who was ejected for tossing the ball in the direction of Eugene Phelps midway through the second quarter.

"Ang lambot lambot nung pagkapasa ni [DiGregorio] na ganun eh kay Phelps eh. So to me 'di ko maintindihan," Ramos said of the incident.

The mentor also took blame for his rotation errors, as the team was left devoid of the spitfire guard, who had scored seven points in 10:37 of action.

"Diba yung third quarter na biglang bumaliktad, desisyon ko yun na ipahinga si Walker eh kasi di pa nagpapahinga yung tao kawawa naman eh. Talagang ganun, make or break. Kung di ko naman nilabas, baka pagdating sa end game, pinulikat."

As of posting time, the TNT-Ginebra game is still undecided, so Ramos was also unsure of what to do in their rest.
