FIBA WORLD CUP:
Blatche, who is still serving his suspension from FIBA following the Gilas-Boomers brawl back in July, would be eligible to return to the national team for the Iran game set for Dec. 3 at the MOA Arena.

For the second straight FIBA World Cup window, there will be no Andray Blatche for Gilas Pilipinas.

The naturalized center was left out of the new 20-man Gilas pool announced Tuesday.

Blatche, who is still serving his suspension from FIBA following the Gilas-Boomers brawl back in July, would be eligible to return to the national team for the Iran game set for Dec. 3 at the MOA Arena.

Still, the Gilas coaching staff has opted to keep Blatche on ice.

"We took consideration the chemsitry that has been built up from the Asian Games with Christian and Stanley [Pringle]. Since Andray is going to be available only on the Iran game, there's some limitations to how we can utilize him," head coach Yeng Guiao said on the reason for leaving out Blatche.

"[Also], Christian [Standhardinger] has produced numbers that cannot be argued against," he added.

Blatche, who has not been with Gilas following his suspension, has reacted on the snub.

Lost and confused 🤷🏾‍♂️

A post shared by Andray Blatche (@draylive) on

Posting on his Instagram account, Blatche says he's "lost and confused" but he did wish the national team good luck.

Despite the snub for this particular window, Guiao assured that Blatche is still part of the Gilas moving forward.

The Philippines will have two more road games in early 2019 before the actual World Cup and Blatche is eligible for both.

If the national team makes it to China for the World Cup, Blatche should be heavily considered for that as well.

"Of course he's still going to be considered lalo na sa next window [since] wala na siyang suspension," Guiao said.
