ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal --- Romeo Travis has said all conference long that he'll do whatever is needed for Magnolia to win games.
To start Manila Clasico semis in the 2018 Governors' Cup, the Hotshots needed Travis to score to match up with the production of Ginebra super import Justin Brownlee.
He did just that.
Travis matched Brownlee's 37 points for the game and save for the first quarter, when Justin scored a ridiculous 20 points, Romeo's points proved to be of better quality for his team.
Magnolia picked up the win in the end and now lead the best-of-5 series, 1-0.
"I'm just trying to help my team win. Whatever I can do to help. Last game it was passing, this game it was scoring. Whatever the team needs, whatever coach asks me to do that's what I'm gonna do," Travis said.
"They needed me. Our guys needed me and I wanted to be there for them," he added.
Taking a 1-0 lead in best-of-5 series is ideal for the Hotshots obviously.
However, facing a team as explosive as Ginebra, the reigning two-time champions, it's always best to keep the foot on the gas.
"That's where you want to be," Travis said of the 1-0 lead.
"It's the best place we can be right now. But we don't want to be overconfident," he added.
