For Game 4 at the Ynares Center Friday evening, not only will Ginebra treat it as an elimination game, but also the Magnolia Hotshots.
With momentum already gone from their side, Magnolia Hotshots head coach Chito Victolero's ejection looked like the nail in the coffin for his side.
The coach was tossed for what officials determined as unsportsmanlike contact with one of the referees, as he gave the ball, which bounced off the body of the referee.
Following LA Tenorio's free throw that put Ginebra up 100-89 with 5:08 left, their rivals looked dead in the water, but instead were resurrected by the call.
The run sparked a 14-1 run and took the lead via import Romeo Travis' lay-up, but got quickly answered by Scottie Thompson's putback and was quelled by Tenorio's subsequent game-winner.
"I think the emotions [had a major part in my ejection]. Na-frustrate lang din ako sa referees. but it’s my fault. Charge it to experience," Victolero said after the game.
The mentor also pointed out that his team had a large disparity in free throw attempts, his team only taking 16 shots from the charity stripe, whereas Ginebra took 45, but added that they will try to rectify the issue to get a more balanced number in Game 4 in Antipolo.
As for Game 4 at the Ynares Center Friday evening, not only will Ginebra treat it as an elimination game, but also his side.
"I think we need to go through the eye of the needle. Yun ang pinaguusapan talaga namin before the series na this is not an easy series. May chance kami kanina pero siguro mas para sa Ginebra and also they deserved to win kasi nagtrabaho rin naman sila."
Regarding Travis' underwhelming performance, wherein he tallied a PBA career-low 12 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists, compared to his counterpart Justin Brownlee, who tied a career-high in markers with 46, had 19 boards, and five dimes, Victolero said he was satisfied with the output.
"I think dumadating naman sa isang player yan eh. Pero yung last two possessions, yung dalawang shoot namin sa huli galing kay Romeo. He gets his rebounds, assists, defense and leadership. Ang napapansin lang natin yung score."
