PBA: Aces make Finals after shutting down Bolts in Game 4
After a hard-fought series, Alaska takes this one, 3-1, after three straight wins.

Alaska is back in the Finals.

The Aces are in the title round for the first time in two years after finally shutting down Meralco, 99-92, in Game 4 of the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup semifinals Saturday at the Cuneta Astrdome.

After a hard-fought series, Alaska takes this one, 3-1, after three straight wins.

The Aces will meet the Magnolia Hotshots in two weeks in the best-of-7 showdown for the Governors' Cup title.

"I'm so proud of our guys," head coach Alex Compton said.

"We're not perfect but we played hard. I'm just so proud of them," he added.

Locked in a close game in the middle of the fourth period, the Aces used a late charge to create the necessary separation to close out Meralco for good.

In particular, Import Mike Harris was spot on for Alaska, dropping 12 points in the fourth to finally move on to the championship round. He ended up with 27 points and 14 rebounds as the main weapon for the Aces.

Four other locals scored in double figures for Alaska led by Jvee Casio's 14. Jeron Teng, Kevin Racal, and Vic Manuel added 10 points apiece.

For the Bolts, Allen Durham was the high man with 31 points and 14 rebounds. However, Meralco's season ends after they fail to win a seventh do-or-die game this conference.

The team previously won six straight knockout game to make the semifinals.

Meralco 92 - Durham 31, Hugnatan 13, Newsome 12, Salva 10, Amer 10, Caram 7, Lanete 7, Hodge 2, Faundo 0, Dillinger 0, Canaleta 0, Tolomia 0.

Quarters: 21-28, 47-48, 68-60, 99-92.
