PBA: Barroca key for Magnolia in the Finals moving forward
Despite taking a historic beatdown at the hands of the Alaska Aces, the Hotshots stil actually lead the best-of-7 series, 2-1, and for them to continue their march to the title, Barroca will have to make things go once again.

As Magnolia looks to recover from a crushing 29-point loss in the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup Finals, Mark Barroca is going to be key.

Despite taking a historic beatdown at the hands of the Alaska Aces, the Hotshots stil actually lead the best-of-7 series, 2-1, and for them to continue their march to the title, Barroca will have to make things go once again.

Former TNT head coach Nash Racela says that Barroca remains as the steady presence for Magnolia an after a chaotic Game 3 where nothing worked for them, the Hotshots could sure use their top point guard directing them back on the right track.

"He brings stability for Magnolia," Racela said of Barroca on The Score Philippines.

"People talk about his defense, how pesky he is. Of course his game doon nagsisimula, but what people don't really talk about is his leadership and stability. He runs the offense very well and if you would notice, napaka-galing niya sa ball screen and dun nagre-revolve talaga yung offense ng Magnolia," he added.

Lyceum head coach and Phoenix assistant Topex Robinson agrees, saying that having a Grand Slam champion in Barroca on the floor makes it easier for Hotshots head coach Chito Victolero.

If things break down for Magnolia, Barroca is more than capable to hold his team down while on the go.

"Papakinggan siya ng teammates niya, he's gonna control the tempo and his has the authority to do that," Robinson said of Barroca.

"He will always look for the best possible opportunity," he added.
