Members of the TNT KaTropa coaching staff say that spitfire scorer Terrence Romeo is still practicing with the team despite trade rumors that he will be shipped for a top-three pick.
The Columbian Dyip, Blackwater Elite, and the NorthPort Batang Pier respectively hold the top three picks, and will have a difficult time in choosing either Ray Parks Jr., CJ Perez, or Robert Bolick, the consensus three best incoming rookies.
Both head coach Bong Ravena and consultant Mark Dickel did not comment when asked about Romeo being placed on the trading block, but did confirm that the multiple-time scoring champion is still practicing with the team.
"I really don't know about those rumors. Moving forward, he's in practice. As far as we're concerned, it's happening like he's a regular member of our team as we get ready for the next conference," Dickel said.
For Ravena, who is in attendance in the PBA Draft Combine Wednesday afternoon at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong, the team is looking to bolster their backcourt, and beef up their frontcourt.
Since there are only a few big men in the guard-laden draft, the KaTropa hopes to find a diamond in the rough using their second-round pick.
"Well kasi, ang ano namin is a backup guard e. Siyempre kailangan ni Jayson (Castro) ng help. Wala naman kaming problema sa wing e, sa 2 or 3, yung hinahanap namin is 1 and 5," shared Ravena.
Romeo is just in his second conference with the KaTropa, shipped from the Batang Pier along with Yousef Taha for Mo Tautuaa and several picks in 2020 and 21.
The 5'11" guard played in nine games this conference for TNT and averaged 21.44 ppg, 3.44 rpg, and 5.22 apg as his team missed the playoffs.
