PBA: Jalalon after 1st title:
Now that he won his first title, Jio is motivated to keep working.

After a failed bid in college to give Arellano University an NCAA title, Jio Jalalon finally landed a big one but this time, it's in the PBA.

Just before his second full season with the Hotshots ended, Jalalon helped Magnolia win its first championship in four years, beating Alaska in six games for the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup.

Jalalon, who has earned his place in this team and in the league, is elated with his breakthrough title.

He says this championship will be the key for him staying around for a very long time.

Jio says this championship is extra special not only because it's his first but because of the struggles they went through as a team to get it.

Magnolia missed out on the Finals despite making three straight semis in his rookie year. The Hotshots also got beat rather convincingly by San Miguel Beer for the 2018 Philippine Cup.

Yung hard work namin nagbunga na," he added.

Now that he won his first title, Jio is motivated to keep working.

But his motivations lie not just because he wants more titles, that's a given. Jalalon also wants to make his new-born daughter proud and provide for his growing family.

"Yung baby ko talaga sobrang [nag-inspire] sakin. Paglabas niya parang lalo pa akong ganado magtrabaho," Jalalon said.
