PBA: Top 5 games to watch in the 2019 Philippine Cup
Speaking of San Miguel, the Beermen will have Ginebra on deck on Jan. 20 for the biggest game of the opening week.

The PBA will open its 44th season on Sunday, January 13, and the league is not wasting time in putting on intriguing matchups to start the new year.

Starting things off are Ginebra and TNT, and those big names are only two in a packed opening week for the PBA.

Other big games in the first seven days are Northport versus Blackwater on Jan. 16 where we’ll see no. 3 pick Robert Bolick make his debut. Two days later, no. 1 pick CJ Perez is up, as his Columbian Dyip challenge 4-time champion San Miguel Beermen.

Speaking of San Miguel, the Beermen will have Ginebra on deck on Jan. 20 for the biggest game of the opening week.

After the first seven days of the season, here are five other games that should be marked on each of your calendars.

Columbian vs. Northport - Jan. 25

CJ Perez and Robert Bolick take their collegiate rivalry to the pros. After squaring off in big games in the NCAA, Perez and Bolick face each other again, this time in the PBA.

Who gets the win?

San Miguel vs. TNT - Jan. 27

It’s always a game to see when the only two PBA Perpetual Champions meet each other in the All-Filipino. To make things super interesting this year, Terrence Romeo meets his former team for the first time.

How good will Terrence be with SMB at this point? Can the KaTropa prove that they were right in trading away the disgruntled super scorer? Will Romeo score 40 points or shoot 40 times? A lot of questions will be answered here.

Magnolia vs. San Miguel - Feb. 10

The rematch from the Philippine Cup Finals.

San Miguel handily won the All-Filipino last year but Magnolia has since won a championship of its own. Can the Hotshots fare better this time against the reloaded Beermen?

Alaska vs. Magnolia - Mar. 9

Another Finals rematch, this time from the Governors’ Cup.

The Aces and the Hotshots engaged in a furious championship series in December 2018. Just three months after that, you’d believe that there’s still some spark in there. The venue is also at the Ynares Center in Antipolo, the site of Magnolia’s title victory.

Yep, there’s still some spark in there.

Ginebra vs. Magnolia - Mar. 17

It’s the first Manila Clasico of 2019. This game needs no introduction.
