PBA: No. 1 pick Perez nervous but excited to face SMB
Leading a pack of young players into the PBAs 44th season, Perez says that the Beermen will prove to be the best test to see where they are as a team.

No. 1 pick CJ Perez will be challenged right off the bat as he makes his PBA debut.

Perez and his Columbian Dyip will make their season debut on Jan. 18 and will face none other than San Miguel Beer, the reigning and defending four-time PBA Philippine Cup Champions.

To make things tougher than ever, the Beermen will field Terrence Romeo and Christian Standhardinger for the first time in the All-Filipino.

About a week before he goes through his baptismal of fire, Perez is naturally feeling some nerves but says bring it on.

“Syempre unang-una ninerbyusin ka muna jan eh, San Miguel yun eh,” Perez said.

“Excited ako na makalaban sila kasi ang daming star players. Sa akin lang, bibigay ko yung best ko. Isang karangalan na makapaglaro na sa PBA and San Miguel agad kalaban mo,” he added.

Leading a pack of young players into the PBA’s 44th season, Perez says that the Beermen will prove to be the best test to see where they are as a team.

The Dyip’s character as a team will be defined early according to the former NCAA MVP out of Lyceum.

“Excited kami na San Miguel agad kalaban namin,” Perez said.

“Dun mate-test yung character namin as a team and kung paano kami mage-execute ng maayos dun,” he added.
