Magnolia Hotshots muse and Megastar Sharon Cuneta does not care about her detractors.
BOCAUE, BULACAN -- Megastar Sharon Cuneta just shrugged off online bashers critical of her selection as the Magnolia Hotshots muse in the opening of the 44th PBA season here.
Cuneta, an endorser of the poultry products of the compan, represented the newly-crowned Governors' Cup champions as they were introduced one by one.
When the announcement was made that she would be the muse last Tuesday, an online firestorm erupted, bashing Cuneta for primarily her age.
"Nothing. They don't mean anything to me. I'm the one that's here, and I was chosen by Magnolia. I didn't volunteer. I'm their major endorser, and I think that's understandable," the longtime Kapamilya said.
The mother of four also shared that she was friends with several members of the team, including Marc Pingris and Rafi Reavis.
"Parang mama nila ako, kapatid – ate, tita, mama. Si Rafi hinahanap ko kasi halos he's my brother na. Si Ping, nandiyan na asawa ni Danica. Sayang wala si Captain Alvin kasi last time na I was a muse for Purefoods, it was the team ni Alvin," shared Cuneta.
The 53-year old veteran actress and singer is no stranger to being the muse of the franchise, and accompanied Purefoods back in 1990 when Alvin Patrimonio and Jojo Lastimosa led the charge.
It was a star-studded affair for all 12 squads, who brought lovely ladies to accompany them to the makeshift podium at the Philippine Arena floor.
Beauty queen royalty graced the courts with 2015 Ms. Universe Pia Wurtzbach representing Ginebra and 2016 Ms. International Kylie Verzosa repping four-time defending champions San Miguel.
Also present was 2018 Binibining Pilipinas-Grand International Eva Patalinjug, who walked with Meralco.
Rounding up the pageant royalty are Mutya ng Pilipinas 2018 - Tourism International Aya Fernandez and Top 12 finalist Anie Uson.
The stars of the small screen also were present, with 'Halik' star Yam Concepcion joining Phoenix, Kelley Day with Columbian, Klea Pineda for Alaska, and Sam Pinto joining TNT.
Fellow athletes also joined the festivities with PVL MVP Alyssa Valdez leading the way for the NLEX Road Warriors, the team of her beau Kiefer Ravena.
Ravena was not present due to his FIBA suspension.
Meanwhile, the duo of Motolite outside hitter Myla Pablo and Olympian swimmer Jasmine Alkhaldi went with Blackwater.
