PBA: Bolick scores 26 as Northport pulls away from Blackwater

Robert Bolick is the real deal.
The no. 3 pick of the 2018 Draft had himself a debut Wednesday in the 2019 Philippine Cup, leading Northport to a sensational 117-91 win over Blackwater at the Big Dome.
Bolick scored 10 points right in the opening period and finished with a game-high 26 points. The rookie also had three rebounds and three assists while playing 36 minutes in a starting role.
After a strong start, the Batang Pier were actually down at the end of the first. However, Northport recovered quickly to take a seven-point lead at the break.
Northport started to pull away in the third before breaking the game wide open in the fourth quarter. The Batang Pier join Ginebra as early winners in the All-Filipino.
“Actually, talagang nag-complement si Bolick sa team,” head coach Pido Jarencio said.
“Yung Bolick iba yun, made na made na yung bata. He’s a winner,” he added.
After Bolick, it was a total team effort for the Batang Pier with Paolo Taha scoring 21 points while old reliables Sean Anthony and Stanley Pringle adding 19 and 16 points respectively.
On the other side, rookie Abu Tratter also had a great debut, finishing with 18 points to lead Blackwater. Roi Sumang scored 16 points and Allein Maliksi chipped in 13 for the Elite.
