PBA: Family is Love for Meralco rookie Trevis Jackson
Jackson had himself a 1-of-1 Air Force 1s, which were originally white-on-whites but were now filled with personalized messages from his family back home.

It didn’t take long for Trevis Jackson to put everyone on notice in the PBA.

After going scoreless in just five minutes in his debut game, the Meralo rookie picked things up in his second outing, leading the Bolts to a win over Blackwater in the 2019 Philippine Cup Saturday in Antipolo.

Jackson fired a game-high 19 points, putting on a show for his mother who is in the country for a couple of days.

With his mother leaving the Philippines to go back home, Trevis made sure to send his mother off with a nice performance.

“Just a quick visit [to Manila] because she has to take care of my siblings back home.  But you know, my mom’s the world to me. She’s the sole reason why I’m here,” Jackson said.

“Doing well for her is like, it makes me happy. It makes my heart happy,” he added.

Family is a pretty big deal for Trevis and none could best exemplify that than his post-game shoes.

Jackson had himself a 1-of-1 Air Force 1s, which were originally white-on-whites but were now filled with personalized messages from his family back home.

“That’s my family,” Trevis said of his pair of special shoes.

“This shoe [pointing to his right], is my LA family because I’m from Sacramento and LA. So my girlfriend had my whole family sign this shoe and my whole family from Sacramento signed [left side]. As I’ve said, my family’s everything to me,” he added.

As he tries to go through life as a PBA rookie, Jackson is set to have a big boost with his family planning to have a visit soon.

It certainly helps him keep going as he makes a career across the world.

“My family plans on coming back soon, so I’m not too worried,” Jackson said.

“[They are my] inspiration everyday. My siblings they call me everyday, ‘hey good luck.’  That’s all I need to get going and get motivated. Them staying in touch with me? As long as they’re there, I’mma go as hard as I can everyday,” he added.
