ANTIPOLO CITY, RIZAL -- TNT KaTropa guard Roger Pogoy is not dwelling on his squad's 0-2 start in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.

Pogoy followed up his career-high 16 rebounds in the previous game with a personal-best 30 points in a 93-84 overtime loss against the streaking Phoenix Fuel Masters at the Ynares Center here.

Both teams were mired in a horrendous shooting display in the first half, paving the way for the lowest-scoring half in PBA history, 26-25 at halftime.

Pogoy, who had three markers in the first 24 minutes, torched the nets for 27 in the second half, including the game-tying jumper that knotted the game at 79 in the late stages of regulation.

However, the 6'2”sharpshooter was held scoreless in the five-minute extension as his team fell once more.

"Sayang nga. Maganda naman sana yung laro namin eh. Nung first half di pumapasok tira namin pero maganda yung depensa. Nung second half naman, pumasok na tira namin pero parang nag-relax kami sa defense. Isang shoot na lang sana panalo na pero ganun talaga," shared Pogoy.

Despite falling to an 0-2 hole, the former FEU standout is confident that the team will eventually buy in to Coach Mark Dickel's system and bounce back.

Pogoy also shared that his recent streak of success was in part due to the encouragement of his foreign mentor, who was a floor general while playing for coach Tab Baldwin in New Zealand.

With nine games to go in the eliminations, the Cebu native stressed that they shouldn’t dwell in the past since they have a lot of time to make a run at the Philippine Cup playoffs, which they qualified as the 8th seed last year.

As for being named to the Gilas pool once again, Pogoy bared that he is excited to play for Yeng Guiao, who took over the national team after the brawl that Pogoy was a major part of.

He will still serve a one-game suspension before getting activated since he was slapped a five-game ban by FIBA.

"Masaya ako, kasi napili ako nila Coach Yeng para makabalik ako sa Gilas. Alam ko naman trabaho ko bakit ako kinuha. Sa last game pa ako makakalaro, kasi five games ako suspended," exclaimed Pogoy.

"Masaya yan, daming nagsasabi na masaya daw pag si Coach Yeng nagco-coach, gusto ko rin ma-try," he added.
