It was very casual lang. It’s just the two of us. No one else around -- Denden Lazaro
LA Revilla didn’t need to prepare a flashy setup or anything extravagant.
He just waited for the right moment to pop the question.
It was simple. It was sweet. It was perfect.
“It was very casual lang. It’s just the two of us. No one else around,” said Revilla’s fiancée Denden Lazaro in a conversation with ABS-CBN Sports, Wednesday night at the Big Dome during Phoenix’s 108-98 win over Columbian Dyip in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.
“I think hinanap lang talaga niya ‘yung perfect time to ask,” added Lazaro, who watched Revilla drop 12 points and dish out seven assists in the Fuel Masters’ third straight win in as many games. “Like without any pressure and when the time was right, that’s when he asked.”
The Petron libero and national team mainstay talked about her engagement for the first time since posting a picture of them in her Instagram last Sunday.
“Bagong taon, bagong buhay. Bagong team and I got engaged,” said Lazaro, who added that Revilla proposed earlier this month.
The former Ateneo de Manila University star, who helped the Lady Eagles win back-to-back UAAP titles in 2013 and 2014, and Revilla have been together for five years.
Revilla popped the question at Lazaro’s condominium.
“We came from a date lang tapos hinatid niya lang ako sa bahay,” Lazaro said.
“Nag-hangout lang kami. Usap lang, casual na usapan tapos may nilabas siya sa pocket niya tapos lumuhod siya,” continued Lazaro, who added that Revilla has already asked her parents for her hand in marriage as early as last year.
Then she said, ‘yes’.
The couple plan to tie the knot next year.
