And after losing to rival TNT for the first time in two years Sunday, San Miguel is now at 2-2, a far cry from the team’s usual dominance in the Philippine Cup.
San Miguel Beer is not exactly off to a good start in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.
The Beermen, the reigning four-time champions of the All-Filipino, lost their first game to Columbian.
And after losing to rival TNT for the first time in two years Sunday, San Miguel is now at 2-2, a far cry from the team’s usual dominance in this conference.
San Miguel, with injuries and adjustment going on, looks vulnerable.
“Sino bang matutuwa pag natalo di ba?” five-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo said.
“Pero part yun ng progress namin. Ayun, parang challenge yun sa amin kung paano namin i-overcome yung challenge na yun,” he added.
While the Beermen have experience struggles in the past, San Miguel is barely challenged in the All-Filipino, especially during the second half of its current four-year reign.
This slow start is definitely a thing for the Beermen and their two losses so far can be attributed to lack of execution down the stretch.
That’s also quite new for the champs considering most teams falter in the end game against their superior talent and experience.
“Na-stop nila kami, and then pumapasok yung tira nila sa labas, nahirapan na kami maka-habol,” Fajardo said on San Miguel’s fourth-quarter blunder against TNT.
“Talo kami. Ayun, kailangan namin mag-adjust then bounce back next game,” he added.
