The TNT KaTropa were up by 21, 30-9 against the Meralco Bolts in the early stages of the second, but somehow blew it.
After a two-game win streak that saw the TNT KaTropa defeat the NLEX Road Warriors and the San Miguel Beermen, they looked to cruise to a third straight victory.
They were up by 21, 30-9 against the Meralco Bolts in the early stages of the second, but somehow blew it.
For star guard Jayson Castro, who finished with 20 points, that kind of effort is not going to cut it if the KaTropa wants to be recognized as a contender in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.
"Oo, yun nga sana kasi para na-establish namin sana yung team namin. Unfortunately, talo. Pero marami namang positives, at the same time na-outhustle kami, na-outwork kami. Talagang tinalo nila kami," shared the veteran floor general.
The KaTropa, still up by nine at the half, 39-30, only scored nine points in the crucial third frame, surrendering the lead completely by its conclusion, 58-63.
And to make matters worse, they only scored two points in the first seven minutes of the payoff period, as Meralco delivered the final jolt that led them to their second win of the season.
"Noong start ng 3rd, medyo masama yung defensive ano namin. Hindi namin na-execute gusto naming gawin. At the same time sobrang ano, yung mga miscommunication sa defense. Yun ang nakaano sa amin kaya nakakuha sila ng madaming points," Castro said.
Castro also added that he was hampered by the tightening of his quadriceps, but assured that it won't be a major hindrance moving forward.
In their game against the Magnolia Hotshots, the playmaker said that he and his teammates are looking forward to a big showdown at the MOA Arena Sunday evening.
"Yun naman yung maganda sa team namin ngayon, walang nagpo-point fingers, basta lahat kami positive. Manalo, matalo, team pa rin kami."
