PBA: Japeth on untimely ankle injury: “Part of the game”
The Gin Kings lost top forward Japeth Aguilar midway through what would become a much-needed win against the Dyip.

ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal — Ginebra didn’t exactly have a flawless result Saturday against Columbian in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.

The Gin Kings lost top forward Japeth Aguilar midway through what would become a much-needed win against the Dyip.

Aguilar had to be helped off the floor due to what now appears to be a sprained ankle.

The severity of the injury remains unknown though Japeth was walking fine by himself as he exited the Ynares Center here.

“Okay naman siya, next pa naman namin is [next] Saturday so rehab lang this coming week,” Aguilar said.

“Part of the game. Pag set ko ng screen naapakan ko yung paa ni [Jackon] Corpuz,” he added.

Before his injury, Japeth played a about 18 minutes for Ginebra, scoring 11 points and grabbing seven rebounds.

Even without Aguilar in the second half, the Gin Kings beat the Dyip by 12 points.

Ginebra, with a 2-2 mark, returns to action on Feb. 9.
