With Chris Tiu retired, Maverick Ahanmisi has taken over as the true no. 1 point guard for Rain or Shine.
So far in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup, Ahanmisi has not disappointed, helping drive the Elasto Painters to a strong 4-1 start.
“This is one of the most pristine conferences obviously, the all-Filipino so you want to make a statement that we are one of the better all-Filipino teams and we just want to stay aggressive,” Ahanmisi said.
“We just want to keep the aggressive activity going,” he added.
With Tiu enjoying his retirement from basketball, it’s up to Ahanmisi to run the Rain or Shine system to perfection.
But before he left, Tiu made sure to give Ahanmisi his basketball secrets.
“When he left, he told me specific things to do. He thought of me a lot when he was here and I think I just learned from him,” Ahanmisin said.
“As you guys know, Chris is not the most athletic person out there but he's a really smart player and I think he's passed that on to me. I think I've really learned a lot from here,” he added.
