PBA: Steady ROS gets third straight win
ROS picked up a third straight win and improved to 5-1, keeping in step with unbeaten Phoenix at the top of the standings.

End-game execution goes to Rain or Shine.

The Elasto Painters proved to be the steadier team Friday, picking up a 107-100 win over Northport in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup at the MOA Arena.

Down 97-100 with less than four minutes to go after Stanley Pringle drilled a booming three for the Batang Pier, ROS came back to score the game’s final 10 points for the win.

ROS picked up a third straight win and improved to 5-1, keeping in step with unbeaten Phoenix at the top of the standings.

“We hit big shots, James [Yap] hit big shots,” head coach Caloy Garcia saod.

“Practically, those guys who played in the end gave us this win,” he added.

With 2:50 to go, Yap hit a booming step-back three to give Rain or Shine the lead for good, 102-100.

The Elasto Painters then stood their ground, stopping several Northport attempts to finish the game off.

Yap and Beau Belga led six ROS players in double figures with 19 points apiece.

Norbert Torres and Raymond Almazan also had good outings for the frontcourt, scoring 16 and 14 points respectively.

The Batang Pier got 34 points from Stanley Pringle but Northport’s 2-0 start has evaprated rather quicky.

With the loss, Northport dropped to 2-2 for the year.
