After an unfortunate case of food poisoning that sidelined him one game and cost him his PBA Ironman streak, Arwind Santos is now back to peak performance.
The one-time MVP led a strong San Miguel attack Sunday, scoring a game-high 29 points as the four-time defending champion Beermen demolished Magnolia, 113-92.
Playing almost 33 minutes, Arwind shot 65 percent from the field and drilled seven three-pointers.
It was the announcement that he’s back and healthy.
“Bumawi lang ako,” Santos said.
“Talagang nag-double effort ako dahil nanalo nga kami noong last game namin pero hindi ako satisfied sa performance ko noon kaya talagang nag-gym ako, nag-shooting,” he added.
Even though San Miguel posted another strong win against Blackwater just last Wednesday, Arwind only scored four points on 2-of-9 shooting.
He made up for all of it Sunday, guiding the Beermen to their first winning streak and a 4-3 record.
“Pinag-usapan namin na hindi na kami pwedeng matalo, 3 losses parang enough na yun para sa amin. Kaya sisikapin namin every game na manalo,” Santos said.
“Kung susumahin mo yung team namin ngayon, mararamdaman mo na maganda dahil yung dating first 5, bumabalik, nagagawa namin uli yung mga dati naming nagagawa,” he added.
