PBA: Caidic lives up to “Triggerman” name anew
The Triggerman fired 16 points in the fourth quarter, including two booming triples to finally put Alaska away. Caidic led all scorers with 26 points, shooting 6-of-14 from beyond the arc.

Even as he’s in his mid-50s already, Caidic is expected to put up points on the board everytime he steps foot on the basketball court.

That’s just part of being the Triggerman.

Sunday during the Return of the Rivals game against Alaska at the Big Dome, Caidic appeared to be cold for San Miguel Beer, managing only five points in the first half and only 10 through three quarters.

“Nahirapan siguro ako kumuha ng second wind kasi nga di na kami sanay sa man-to-man eh, 12 minutes pa yun kada quarter,” Caidic said after the game.

Despite firing blanks for 36 minutes, Caidic regained his time just in time and led the Beermen to a big win over their Grand Slam rivals.

The Triggerman fired 16 points in the fourth quarter, including two booming triples to finally put Alaska away. Caidic led all scorers with 26 points, shooting 6-of-14 from beyond the arc.

“At least naka-recover nung second half, good thing yung mag kasama ko sinuportahan ako hanggang sa yun nakuha ko rin. Yun mahirap eh, yung expectation sayo ang taas, pag di mo na-mett madi-disappoint yung mga tao. Kaya on our part, pressured din kami,” Caidic said.

“Imagine, I’m 56 already but yung expectations ng tao, ganun pa rin dapat eh. Talagang challening on our part,” he added.

The Return of the Rivals brought together legends from two of the PBA’s Grand Slam teams. It was a great time for everyone involved even as the competitive spirit was still naturally present for both squads, which was evident right from the jump.

“Masaya kami lahat. More than the result, more than the game, it’s the solidarity of the players, nagkaisa kami for a good cause. The support na we got from the crowd, from the PBA, lahat ng sponsors, yung mga pride namin [lumabas]. Akala ko nga sona-sona lang kami, umpisa pa lang man-to-man na kaagad, talagang napalaban,” Caidic said.

“Nakita mo yung fighting hearts ng players, naging intense talaga yung game. Sinwerte naman kami towards the end, nanalo kami. Pero more than than, it’s the reunion na nagsama-sama kami dito,” he added.
