PBA: The Triggerman shoots Beermen past Alaska
The Triggerman led all scorers with 26 points, 21 in the second half, as he buried six triples all in all.

In a battle of Grand Slam teams, San Miguel Beer proved superior over longtime rival Alaska.

The Beermen pulled away in the fourth quarter Sunday, picking up a 96-83 win over the Milkmen in the PBA Legends Return of the Rivals game at the Big Dome.

Despite struggling in the first half, Allan Caidic found his shot in the second, scoring two booming triples late as San Miguel pulled away from Alaska for good.

The first from the Triggerman was a beatiful corner swish, giving the Beermen a nine-point lead.

And despite firing an airball in his very next attempt, Caidic returned in the following play and hit another triple on the break, handing San Miguel an insurmountable 91-79 advantage.

The Triggerman led all scorers with 26 points, 21 in the second half, as he buried six triples all in all.

“What a game,” Caidic said.

“Nakaka-kilabot, brings back memories. Alaska, nakalaban namin yan early 90s hanggang sa mid-90s, di kami nananalo. Mabuti nakabawi kami ngayon,” he added with a laugh.

With Alaska having fresher legs, the Beermen were actually down by double digits in the first half.

However, San Miguel’s offense would just click in the second half, scoring at least 30 points in each of the last two quarters to get the win.

After Caidic, Denok Miranda scored 17 for the Beermen while former two-time MVP Danny Ildefonso finished with a strong 14 points and 14 rebounds.

For the Milkmen, two-time MVP Willie Miller led the way with 20 points.
