PBA: Alaska destroys Ginebra by 26 points

ANTOPLO CITY, Rizal — It was a complete turnaround for Alaska.
The Aces pounded on Brgy. Ginebra Sunday at the Ynares Center here, taking a convincing 104-78 win in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.
Two days after taking a beating at the hands of Phoenix, Alaska recovered quite nicely and issued a beating of its own to the Gin Kings, cruising to a big 26-point decision.
Alaska led by as many as 30 points, 95-65, as the Aces got big games from their starting backcourt in Simon Enciso and Chris Banchero.
The onslaught started in the second quarter as Alaska built an 18-point lead at the break, 52-34. Come the fourth, the floodgates truly opened as the Aces wrapped things up.
"I didn't expect that. We were manhandled by Phoenix the last time. The final score was not indicative how Phoenix manhandled us," head coach Alex Compton said.
"Honestly, I expected we would play hard, but I didn't expect that score," he added.
Enciso scored 23 points on top of five assists while Banchero went for 20 points and eight assists. Ping Exciminiano and Carl Bryan Cruz added 12 points apiece for Alaska as the win pushed the Aces to 3-2 in the standings.
Ginebra lost a two-game run and dropped to 3-3. Four players scored in double figures for the Gin Kings led by 17 from Japeth Aguilar.
