“Wala, dying seconds so kailangan ko itira. Buti pumasok,” June Mar said of his first three of the year. (PBA)
In a team as loaded as San Miguel, June Mar Fajardo will be the last player you’d think about shooting triples in a game.
While that’s the truth anyway, the reigning five-time PBA Most Valuable Player does practice hitting long-range bombs and Friday against NLEX, he finally let one go in an actual contest.
June Mar’s first and only triple of the current season so far was a success as he hit a nice one from the corner in the opening period.
The champion Beermen landed a big haymaker to start things off, leading NLEX 28-4 after the games first nine minutes.
“Wala, dying seconds so kailangan ko itira. Buti pumasok,” June Mar said of his first three of the year.
“Tsamba,” he added.
Despite regularly practicing his three-point shooting, Fajardo knows that his strength remains inside the lane.
He’ll continue to stick with that after all, it’s been proven to work all these years. He has five MVPs and multiple PBA titles to show for.
Against the Road Warriors, June Mar posted 27 points and 13 rebounds, including shooting 10/13 from the field in a dominant showing.
“Tumitira din ako sa practice pero syempre nasa loob pa rin yung laro ko,” Fajardo said.
“Paminsan-minsan. Kanina, nagkataon lang,” he added.
