Gilas Pilipinas head coach Yeng Guiao says he doesn't expect prized big man June Mar Fajardo to be hoisting up triples in international tournaments.
The fiery Guiao and his NLEX Road Warriors fell victim to the three-point barrage of the San Miguel, with the Beermen sinking 20 from downtown.
Fajardo, known for his polished inside game even joined the party, drilling one from the corner in SMB's spirited run to open the game.
However, Guiao does not expect the 6'10 beanpole to add the long bomb in his repertoire.
"It's something that you have to develop for a longer period of time," he explained.
The mentor also added that Fajardo's offensive skillset is already enough for Gilas to pull through when the five-time PBA MVP is given possession of the ball.
"For the purposes of the national team, his medium range shot is good enough," assured Guiao.
"You don't need to shoot a three to be effective as long as you can step out and shoot a 15, 16-foot jumper with some accuracy."
Moreover, Guiao was proven right once again, as Fajardo again took the four-time defending Philippine Cup champions' scoring load with a 27-point, 13-rebound performance in the 121-111 victory.
