ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal — As TNT dropped the hammer on Blackwater Saturday at the Ynares Center here, former FEU teammates RR Pogoy and Raymar Jose had a little “incident.”
In the middle of the KaTropa’s historic 26-0 run in the fourth quarter, Jose flipped the ball in the direction of Pogoy during a timeout.
The ball hit Pogoy’s face and in the PBA, that warrants an automatic ejection.
Jose will also likely earn a fine from the PBA and if he does, he wants his pal Pogoy to pay for it.
RR playfully declined to pay for anything.
“Mas maraming pera yun, kaya niya yun,” Pogoy said.
“Yung kay toto naman, kulitan lang namin yun kasi alamo niyo naman best friend ko yun eh. Di ko lang nasalo yung bola, dumirecho sa mukha ko,” he added.
Turning a little serious, Pogoy was satisfied with the way his team played against the Elite.
TNT’s 38-point victory was the team’s third straight in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup. At 5-3, they still have a chance to steal one of the playoff bonuses come the quarterfinals.
“Masaya kami sa nilaro namin. Third straight na na maganda na laro namin lalo na sa depensa. Sana tuloy-tuloy,” Pogoy said.
The former Rookie of the Year returned from sickness to play a masterful game against Blackwater, leading all scorers with 28 points.
He’s satisfied about that too.
“Happy din ako sa nilaro ko ngayon kasi maganda. Pero hindi lang naman ako, lahat naman kami kaya nananalo yung team,” Pogoy said.
