“Medyo lucky kami dito sa gym na ito. Everytime we need a win, dinadala kami dito and yun, siguro lucky charm namin itong Ynares,” — Magnolia head coach Chito Victolero.
ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal — The Ynares Center here has been good to Magnolia lately.
In December 2018, the Hotshots beat Alaska for the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup, the franchise’s first championship in four years.
Prior to that, it was also at the Ynares Center where Romeo Travis scored 50 points and Magnolia eliminated two-time defending champion Brgy. Ginebra in the semifinals.
Saturday in teh 2019 PBA Philippine Cup, Magnolia got another crucial win at Ynares as they beat Alaska, 103-86.
Another loss would have put the Hotshots at 1-5 with little to no life. Instead, Magnolia is at 2-4 with a huge boost as the team tries to crash the All-Filipino playoffs.
“I think Ynares was very good to us,” head coach Chito Victolero said with a laugh.
“Medyo lucky kami dito sa gym na ito. Everytime we need a win, dinadala kami dito and yun, siguro lucky charm namin itong Ynares,” he added.
Magnolia has five games left in the elimination round and unfortunately, only one more will be at the Ynares Center.
It doesn’t mean that the Hotshots will go 1-4 the rest of the way though but Victolero would sure love to have more games here if his team is indeed lucky in Antipolo.
“Kausapin ko nga si Commissioner,” Victolero joked.
“Palitan na lahat ng game namin dito. It’s all about the mind lang siguro,” he added.
