PBA: Coach Yeng’s latest ejection becomes blessing for NLEX

NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao had himself ejected once again Wednesday in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.

Guiao was out of the playing court before the first half even ended, earning two technical fouls after using profane language.

His ejection ended up being boon for his Road Warriors as NLEX flipped the switch in the third quarter, eventually coasting to a nice 21-point win over the Alaska Aces.

“Puro foul language daw eh dati naman akong ganyan. I don't think it's extraordinary for me. That turned out to be a blessing in disguise,” Guiao said on his ejection in the second quarter.

“Coach Jolas did an excellent job taking over for me. Plus the guys stepped up. But really it was, I think, our defense that did it for us. I was pretty confident kahit wala ako sa loob na as long as we execute the game plan, we'll be okay. Kasi well prepared naman yung team defensively against Alaska,” he added.

As the leading PBA authority when it comes to ejections, for better or for worse, coach Yeng says him being thrown out feels like nothing anymore.

Instead, he uses his ejections most of the time to send a strong message not only to his team but to the league and its officials.

“I'm so used to it so I don't have a reaction anymore,” he said.

“Ganun lang talaga yun eh. Sometimes you blow your top, sometimes you think you need to send a message to the referees,” coach Yeng added.
