PBA: Road Warriors pick up crucial win over Alaska
Using a strong third-quarter push, the Road Warriors left the Aces in the dust, picking up a win to snap a two-game skid.

With their backs against the wall, the Road Warriors come through with a huge performance to save their conference.

NLEX dominated Alaska in the second half Wednesday, scoring an important 91-70 win in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup at the Big Dome.

Using a strong third-quarter push, the Road Warriors left the Aces in the dust, picking up a win to snap a two-game skid.

NLEX improved to 3-5 for the season, making the lower half of the All-Filipino standings crowded with teams trying to make the playoffs.

“We still have a bit of life,” assistant coach Jojo Lastimosa said.

Lastimosa took over head coach Yeng Guiao late in the first half after Guiao was ejected due to two technical fouls.

“Mathematically we’re still there [playoff race]. But it’s a long road because we need to sweep our [remaining] games,” he added.

NLEX used a 11-0 run early in the second half to build a 61-38 lead over Alaska.

The Road Warriors kept pounding until the fourth, eventually opening up a 28-point lead which was more than enough to secure the victory.

Eight players scored at least eight points in a balanced scoring effort for NLEX. JR Quinahan and Bong Galanza led the way with 14 points apiece.

Alaska dropped two straight for a now 3-4 record.

Jeron Teng carried the fight for the Aces but his 23 points in a starting role were not enough.
