“My back, it’s okay. It hurt when it happened but right now it’s starting to feel a little better. I feel good but time will tell.” — Mo Tautuaa. (PBA)
Late in the fourth quarter with the win already decided for Northport, Batang Pier center Mo Tautuaa had an injury scare after a bad landing.
Mo was challenged by Yousef Taha as he went up for a shot and after he went down awkwardly, Tautuaa immediately crutched his lower back and butt area as he grimaced in pain.
Fortunately enough, Mo was able to walk it off moments later and after the game, he was feeling better already.
“My back, it’s okay. It hurt when it happened but right now it’s starting to feel a little better. I feel good but time will tell,” he said.
“I mean, I work out a lot so I got a good enough butt to take the fall,” Mo added, already joking about it. “Let’s hope [that’s the case], because right now it’s okay.”
The win against TNT Sunday was Northport’s first in a long while.
After a 2-0 start, the Batang Pier lost six straight that almost cost them a playoff berth outright.
Against the KaTropa, Northport jumped on a good lead and never let go. Now, the Batang Pier still have a shot of crashing the All-Filipino playoffs as one of the lower seeds.
“I mean, finally right?” Tautuaa said as they get to take a much-needed win without collapsing in the end.
“That’s the team we want to be, we keep preaching about it and we finally did it today. It gives us hope because now we know we can do it,” he added.
