PBA: Pido thankful for pancit from ROS but, “sana nilagyan lumpia at fried rice”

“Dapat nilagyan na rin ng lumpiang shanghai pati fried rice ano,” Pido Jarencio, drawing laughs for his post-game talk.
Pido Jarencio got jokes when he asked for food from the teams that ended up benefiting from Northport’s big win over TNT last Sunday in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.
The huge upset by the Batang Pier eliminated the KaTropa and Brgy. Ginebra from top-2 contention, gifting idle Rain or Shine with the no. 2 spot in the All-Filipino playoffs.
Of course, the no. 2 seed comes with a twice-to-beat advantage.
“Kami muna, intindihin muna namin problema namin ano, bahala na sila sa problema nila. Kung nabigyan namin sila ng free ticket para maging number 1 or number 2, kung sino mang team yun, magpadala na lang sila ng pagkain sa practice bukas,” Jarencio said in jest after beating TNT.
Rain or Shine definitely heard Jarencio talk and the Elasto Painters did send food over the Batang Pier practice.
Coach Pido was thankful, he didn’t think ROS would actually buy into what was an obvious joke.
And since the whole thing has turned into a nice little side story in Northport’s intense playoff chase in the Philippine Cup, Jarencio is keeping the jokes coming to coincide with his team picking up another victory.
It’s Coach Pido after all, he’s just trying to lighten the mood.
“Actually, nagpapa-salamat kami kay sir Raymond Yu, nagpadala nga ng pancit. Kinakantyawan lang natin eh, nagpadala naman,” Jarencio said after the Batang Pier beat the Alaska Aces Wednesday for back-to-back wins.
“Dapat nilagyan na rin ng lumpiang shanghai pati fried rice ano,” he added, drawing laughs for his post-game talk.
“Para kumpleto na di ba? Kaya lang pancit tsaka calamansi lang dinala eh. Terno yun eh di ba? Fried rice, pancit, lumpiang shanghai. Bahala na si Raymond di ba. Actually, nage-enjoy lang tayo,” Jarencio said.
