PBA ALL-STAR: Old favorite returns as South takes on North in Calasiao

CALASIAO, Pangasinan — After a two-year hiatus, the North vs. South All-Star game is making a grand return here.
The 2019 PBA All-Star reverts to an old favorite, pitting superstars from Luzon against their counterparts from Visayas and Mindanao.
Starting for the North All-Stars are Calvin Abueva, LA Tenorio, Paul Lee, Marcio Lassiter, and Japeth Aguilar.
The rest of the team to be coached by Phoenix’s Louie Alas are Jayson Castro, Stanley Pringle, Alex Cabagnot, Gabe Norwood, Arwind Santos, Troy Rosario, Chris Banchero, Jason Perkins, Mark Caguioa, and Marc Pingris.
On the other side of the court, South will feature an imposing lineup with June Mar Fajardo, Greg Slaughter, Mark Barroca, Scottie Thompson, and James Yap as starters.
South’s reserves are Terrence Romeo, RR Pogoy, Chris Ross, Baser Amer, Mac Belo, Poy Erram, Asi Taulava, PJ Simon, and Jio Jalalon. Rain or Shine’s Caloy Garcia will coach.
Also in the All-Star Game are Benjie Paras and Ronnie Magsanoc for North while Alvin Patrimonio and Jerry Codiñera will suit up for South.
The North All-Stars lead the head-to-head, 8-4. Five of the last 6 North vs. South games have been won by the North.
Further stacking the odds against South, the home team won 11 of the previous 12 meetings.
