PBA: 8th spot on the line in cruial Alaska-NLEX showdown
Tip off for this game will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday and the winner will see action right away Sunday against the Fuel Masters. Phoenix holds a twice-to-beat advantage. NLEX blasted Alaska in the elimination round, 91-70.

There’s only one spot remaining in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup playoffs and two teams are still in the running.

You know what that means. Oh yes, it’s do-or-die time.

Alaska and NLEX dispute the 8th spot in the All-Filipino playoffs Friday at MOA Arena, with this matchup a rematch from last year’s Philippine Cup quarterfinals.

In 2018, NLEX won a best-of-3 series to make a breakthrough semifinal appearance.

In 2019, the Road Warriors and the Aces are in a different situation, as both teams fight for the right to take on no. 1 Phoenix in the first round.

NLEX found its way here after taking a sound beating at the hands of Magnolia Wednesday, finishing with a 4-7 record.

Alaska also finished with a 4-7 record but its quotient was far inferior and the Aces have the Hotshots to thank for not getting eliminated outright.

Tip off for this game will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday and the winner will see action right away Sunday against the Fuel Masters. Phoenix holds a twice-to-beat advantage.

NLEX blasted Alaska in the elimination round, 91-70.
