As the team faces no. 1 Phoenix in another knockout match Sunday, Banchero is ready to power through and play.
Alaska has had some bad luck with injuries in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.
The Finals team from the 2018 Governors’ Cup has been decimated, with just a couple returning just in time in the All-Filipino.
As Alaska found a way to sneak into the playoffs this time as an 8th seed, the Aces can’t seem to escape the injury bug with top guard Chris Banchero hurting his shooting hand against NLEX.
But as the team faces no. 1 Phoenix in another knockout match Sunday, Banchero is ready to power through and play.
“It just got chopped by [JR] Quinahan. It’s just kinda painful right now, it’s swollen,” Banchero said of his right hand.
“Yeah, I’m playing on Sunday. I don’t think it’s too bad, it’s just a little painful,” he added.
As they look forward to challenging the top-ranked Fuel Masters, Banchero says it’s important for the Aces to keep it one game at a time.
They already survived one knockout game and now there’s two to go.
“Hopefully we’re gonna go uphill, continue to play good as we go into the playoffs,” Banchero said.
“We know that there will be three knockout games so hopefully we’ll take it one game at a time, take care of business,” he added.
