PBA: “Nagising na kami,” Jio as Magnolia forces do-or-die
Jalalon shot seven out of 12 from the field for 17 points to go along with five rebounds and six assists. He was also responsible for a quarter of Ginebra’s 20 turnovers after recording a game-high five steals.

After a rather flat start to Manila Clasico quarters, Magnolia has responded accordingly, pummeling Ginebra in Game 2 to force sudden death in the Philippine Cup playoffs.

The Hotshots were on target on offense and disruptive on defense during Monday’s big bounce back win over the Gin Kings and no one best represented that than third-year guard Jio Jalalon.

Jalalon shot seven out of 12 from the field for 17 points to go along with five rebounds and six assists. He was also responsible for a quarter of Ginebra’s 20 turnovers after recording a game-high five steals.

“Nagising na kami lahat, yung mga mistakes namin nag-adjust na kami,” Jio said.

“Kaya ayun, nakuha namin itong game na to back to zero na ulit,” he added.

Magnolia’s big win only tied the best-of-three series at one game each though. This means nothing if they lose the next one.

“Meron pang Game 3 so hindi kami kailangan maging masaya, meron pang one game,” Jalalon said.

To score a repeat in Game 3, the Hotshots need to stay true to themselves, something they didn’t actually do in Game 1.

Naturally, Magnolia dropped Game 1 by 11 points.

“Nag-umpisa sa defense yun. Binalik namin yung defense namin, kung paano yung Magnolia Hotshots basketball kaya ayun nakuha namin rhythm namin lahat,” Jalalon said.

“Bumalik na yung rhythm namin lahat, may kumpiyansa na kami. Tumaas na kumpiyansa namin. Pero sabi nga namin, di pa kami masaya kasi may Game 3 pa,” he added.
