No. 1 pick CJ Perez is on top of the Rookie of the Year race this early.
The Columbian combo guard led all freshmen at the end of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup elimination round with an average of 28.7 statistical points, a good five points ahead from his next pair of challengers.
Former San Beda teammates Robert Bolick and Javee Mocon are those challengers as both rookies finished with identical 23.6 SPs through the elimination round.
Blackwater’s Abu Tratter (20.5) is at fourth, followed by Columbian’s JP Calvo (16.6) and Jeepy Faundo (14.2).
However, the top-5 rookies have been eliminated from championship contention in the Philippine Cup with the execption of Mocon, whose no. 2 Rain or Shine is safely through the semifinals at the expense of Bolick’s Northport.
