PBA: June Mar deflects credit again despite big performance

In typical June Mar fashion, he deflected the credit to the rest of the Beermen, refusing to say that it was just all him.
Faced with the prospect of losing their Philippine Cup title in the first round, defending four-time champion San Miguel Beer issued a strong statement Wednesday, smashing TNT in Game 3 of the best-of-3 quarterfinals series.
Five-time MVP June Mar Fajardo was the brightest star as per usual, shooting a perfect 11/11 from the field on his way to a game-high 32 points on top of 14 rebounds.
Fajardo’s good work carried San Miguel back to another semifinal appearance, this time against top-ranked Phoenix.
But in typical June Mar fashion, he deflected the credit to the rest of the Beermen, refusing to say that it was just all him.
“Hindi lang naman ako yung maganda yung nilaro,” Fajardo said.
“Pati yung mga teammates ko nag-step up. Nasunod yung gameplan namin, lalo na sa depensa,” he added.
Challenged by the KaTropa for three games, June Mar certainly didn’t expect that they would blow out TNT in the decider.
Still, Fajardo and the rest of his teammates would take the win. They certainly didn’t want this one to be the last game of their All-Filipino dynasty.
“Hindi, hindi, hindi [expected lopsided win]. Pero in-expect namin na all out yung ibibigay namin,” Fajardo said.
“Kasi must-win na, ayaw pa namin magpahinga, ayaw pa namin umuwi, ayaw pa namin magbakasiyon. Mabuti nag-step up lahat,” he added.
