PBA: Magnolia wins Manila Clasico quarters vs. Ginebra

Magnolia overcame a 0-1 deficit to win theis 2019 PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals series, 2-1.

The Hotshots took down Ginebra in Manila Clasico, scoring a decisive 85-72 Game 3 win Wednesday at the Big Dome.

“It’s all God’s will. I don’t know paano namin na-survive itong conference na to,” head coach Chito Victolero said.
“I’m very happy, proud sa mga players. It’s all about their grit, effort, and desire to win,” he added,
Game 3 was close for only one half as Magnolia broke the game wide open in the third quarter led by Paul Lee.
The Hotshots fired a booming 12-0 run late to take a commanding 68-48 lead. Ginebra cut it to single digit in the fourth but Lee hit the dagger triple in the final 2:40 to seal the deal.
Lee led all scorers with 25 points, 13 in an incredible third-quarter effort.
Mark Barroca backed him up with 13 while Aldrech Ramos and Ian Sangalang added 11 and 10 points respectively for the Hotshots.
Ginebra has now lost back-to-back Manila Clasico series to Magnolia. The Gin Kings dropped their title to the Hotshots in the semifinals of the 2018 Governors’ Cup.
The barangay loses this one as well despite getting the leg up on such a short series.
Jeff Chan led the team in scoring, firing all of his 17 points in the fourth quarter. Japeth Aguilar was good for 16 points.

Ginebra 72 - Chan 17, Aguilar 16, Devance 12, Slaughter 9, Mercado 8, Tenorio 5, Thompson 3, Dela Cruz 2, Ferrer 0.
Quarters: 20-23, 42-37, 70-50, 85-72.
