PBA: No “revenge” as Terrence downplays series win vs. TNT

“Normal series lang naman yun eh,” Romeo said as his Beermen beat TNT in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals.
Much has been said about Terrence Romeo’s supposed exile from TNT KaTropa.
The storyline only got additional heat as Romeo’s San Miguel Beermen met TNT in the opening round of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup playoffs.
Terrence downplayed the match-up even before and as San Miguel beat the KaTropa 2-1 in the best-of-3 quarterfinals, Romeo insists that everything was just normal.
“Normal series lang naman yun eh,” Romeo said.
“TNT is TNT. Alam naman natin na talagang competitive yung team na yan, buti nakapag-ready kami sa kanila. Buti na lang nakapag-adjust kami kaya maganda rin tinakbo namin,” he added.
Things should normalize now between Romeo and TNT but Terrence admist that they were challenged by a very game KaTropa.
San Miguel dominated Game 3 but the first two games were controlled by the KaTropa. In fact, the Beermen were in trouble in Game 1 if not for some clutch work by five-time MVP June Mar Fajardo.
“Hindi birong kalaban yung TNT, maganda rin yung gameplan nila,” said Romeo, who finished with 11 points and 4 assists in Game Three.
“Tapos grabe din yung pressure defense nila kaya nahirapan din kami, kinailangan namin mag-adjust ng mga bagong plays para mabigyan sila ng ibang looks,” he added.
As a personal milestone of sorts, Romeo winning with San Miguel now means that Terrence will enter the PBA semifinals for just the second time in his career.
The first time was three years ago in the All-Filipino with his first PBA team, Globalport.
“Masaya, naka-pasok na ulit ng semis. Siguro kailangan lang mag-focus. One game at a time lang,” Romeo said.
