After taking down a rival in Brgy. Ginebra, Paul Lee meets his old brothers from Rain or Shine.
It’s time for the 2019 Philippine Cup quarterfinals and guess who Magnolia has up next.
Oh yes, after surviving a grueling three-game Manila Clasico quarters, the Hotshots take on the well-rested Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, the no. 2 team in the PBA.
After taking down a rival in Barangay Ginebra, Paul Lee meets his old brothers from Rain or Shine.
To turns things around, Rain or Shine’s James Yap meets his former brothers over at Magnolia.
This is going to be fun, and Lee already knows that for a fact.
“For sure magiging magandang game yan,” Lee said on Rain or Shine after scoring 25 points Wednesday to eliminate Ginebra.
“Kailangan ko lang maging ready and maging ready yung buong team,” he added.
This will be the second time both teams will meet in the playoffs since the blockbuster trade that made Lee a Hotshots and Yap an Elasto Painter.
The first time was a short quarterfinals series during the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup. The then Star Hotshots won in a two-game sweep.
This time should be different but one thing will remain the same though.
This is not about Lee against ROS or Yap against Magnolia. It’s just simply the Hotshots vs. the Elasto Painters with a Philippine Cup Finals slot on the line.
“Last time na nakalaban namin sila may import, pero syempre iba na yung All-Filipino,” Lee said.
“Hindi naman ito yung laban sakin and then Rain or Shine. Kailangan namin sila paghandaan as a team and then tignan natin kung ano chance natin,” he added.
