PBA: ”Mas pisikal pa sila sa Ginebra,” Victolero on ROS
“We expect a very physical game against Rain or Shine. Mas pisikal pa siguro sila kesa sa Ginebra,” said head coach Chito Victolero said.

Suriving Manila Clasico was an achievement in itself but Rain or Shine is a whole different beast that Magnolia has to deal with now in the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.

The Hotshots are now down 0-1 in their best-of-7 series after taking a 77-84 beating Friday in the series opener.

Rain or Shine used its extra break to get to a fast start and as the game broke down into a defensive struggle, the Elasto Painters used their physicality to wear Magnolia down to submission.

All of that was expected and the burden of adjustment is now on the part of the Hotshots.

“We expect a very physical game against Rain or Shine. Mas pisikal pa siguro sila kesa sa Ginebra,” said head coach Chito Victolero said.

“I think yung huli, medyo nahirapan na kami dumepensa, nahirapan kami kumuha ng rebounds. May factor na din dun siguro yung medyo pagod na mga players ko. But I give credit also to my players, kasi kahit pagod lumalaban pa rin,” he added.

Another difference between Ginebra and Rain or Shine is that the Elasto Painters seem to make full advantage of their depth better.

The Hotshots found about that the hard way in Game 1 as ROS used the performances role players Javee Mocon, Rey Nambatac, and even Kris Rosales as the difference in the series opener.

Magnolia will have to take notes for next game for sure.

“May mga players kami na hindi napag-handaan ng mabuti. We will be better next time,” Victolero said.

Now down 0-1, Victolero says they need to make this series as long as possible.

Drag things out and make ROS work for everything.

“Ang importante lang dito, mapa-haba namin yung series. Importante yung Game 2 maka-bawi kami,” Victolero said.
