Rain or Shine’s depth has been an incredible weapon so far in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.

After rookie Javee Mocon shined in Game 1, it was Ed Daquioag’s turn in Game 2 and the former UST Growling Tiger torched the Magnolia Hotshots for 19 points, leading the no. 2 Elasto Painters to a commanding 2-0 lead in this best-of-7 series.

Daquioag was a force, scoring 17 points in the middle quarters where ROS pulled away from Magnolia for good, turning a one-point lead after 12 minutes into a 16-point spread entering the final quarter.

“Syempre malaking bagay samin yun, malalim nga kami. Hindi alam ng kalaban kung sino mag-step up every game,” Daquioag said.

“Lisensyado kasi lahat kami tumira eh, kung sino yung libre yun ang bibigyan,” he added.

ROS has legitimate veteran options that Magnolia has to account for. Players like Dquioag will start getting open.

As the ball finds its way to them, it’s up for Daquioag and the rest of the ROS role players to deliver. In two games in these semifinals, they’ve been doing just that and the Hotshots have no answer.

“Siguro nagkakataon lang,” Daquioag said.

“Kasi binabantayan din nila si James [Yap] eh, tina-trap nila si James. So ni-review namin, may mga nali-libre talaga samin eh,” he added
