San Miguel Beer certainly missed Lassiter’s presence during a Game 3 loss to Phoenix. In Game 2, Marcio led all scorers with 24 points and looked like he was starting to find his groove after struggling since pretty much the playoffs started.
Marcio Lassiter was absent in San Miguel Beer’s Game 3 loss to Phoenix on Easter Sunday during the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.
Lassiter was at the venue and in uniform but didn’t play a single minute during a 90-92 defeat.
Marcio declined comment post-game but his head coach says that the Beermen chose to ice their top shooter in order to keep a sudden back injury in check.
“We have a good practice yesterday and nothing happens, just relaxing. We know that we're in shape. But pagdating niya dito kanina, something's wrong with his back, and we don't want to aggravate the situation,” Austria said of Lassiter.
“Hindi playable, talagang back spasms. Maybe next game he will be okay, hopefully,” he added.

Still, the Beermen had the chance to win late in Game 3 and the champs will just take this loss and move on to Game 4 on Tuesday.
“Marcio is a big factor in our offense and defense, but it could happen to any team [injuries],” Austria said.
“But the thing is, we still have a chance to win. So I think we have to be ready next game,” he added.
